New York spot gold fell $7.90 to $1,252.50 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 3.23 points to 803.67 while the TSX Gold Index slid 4.05 points to 207.97. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) led Canadian golds lower today. It dropped $2.26 to $64.33 on 1.65 million shares. Premier Gold Mines Ltd. (PG) also lost ground, dropping 20 cents to $2.78 on 2.45 million shares.

Michael McPhie and Robert McLeod's IDM Mining Ltd. (IDM), unchanged at 14.5 cents on 663,000 shares, has received assays of up to 12.95 grams of gold and 48.83 grams of silver per tonne over 6.23 metres in a step-out hole drilled at the AV zone on its Red Mountain project, just east of Stewart in British Columbia. The assays, from the first six holes drilled at the project this year, produced a few other noteworthy hits, including a 25-metre interval from an infill hole at the JW zone that averaged 6.15 grams of gold and 37.69 grams of silver per tonne.
