New York spot gold gained $8.80 to $1,255.60 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 6.02 points to 806.90 while the TSX Gold Index added 0.76 point to 212.02. Tahoe Resources Inc. (THO) gained 44 cents to $12.79 on 3.12 million shares, while Richmont Mines Inc. (RIC) led the group of southbound gold miners. It dropped 28 cents to $9.96 on 386,000 shares.

Gonzalo de Losada's Antioquia Gold Inc. (AGD) reclaimed two cents to 12.5 cents on 1.86 million shares. The normally thin trading stock had inched higher over the past year, touching 19.5 cents early this month, but it dropped two cents Wednesday and another 4.5 cents to 10.5 cents Thursday on 1.07 million shares. That prompted the regulators to halt the stock pending clarification from the company. Mr. de Losada, president and chief executive officer, says he knows of nothing material that would account for the slump, although he offhandedly mentions that Antioquia has "terminated its contract" with Jim Decker, its vice-president of investor relations. Mr. Decker was a "founding shareholder" of the company in 2008 and he owned six million shares at last report.
