New York spot gold fell $14.10 to $1,246.80 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange dropped 6.99 points to 800.88 while the TSX Gold Index slipped 5.39 points to 211.26. Most Canadian golds were lower today, but Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) bucked the trend, gaining five cents to $4.57 on 18.26 million shares.
Chris Lodder's Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd. (BGM), down four cents to $1.15 on 1.18 million shares, has received assays of up to 39.05 grams of gold per tonne over 8.25 metres at Island Mountain on its Cariboo project in British Columbia. It tested the Shaft zone and it encountered a 60-metre-wide interval of veins hosted in sandstone that produced much of the high-grade gold. Mr. Lodder, president and chief executive officer, says this is the only hole to reach this depth, so the new zone is open in all directions. As well, deep drilling in the Aurum Deeps area has produced encouraging results.
