New York spot gold gained $24.20 to $1,260.90 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 0.40 point to 807.87 while the TSX Gold Index added 2.58 points to 216.65. Most Canadian golds moved higher with bullion today and Yamana Gold Corp. was one of the many. It gained nine cents to $3.83 on 9.60 million shares.
Christian Milau and Greg Smith's Trek Mining Inc. (TREK), down two cents to $1.29 on 132,000 shares, has received assays of up to 28.16 grams of gold per tonne over four metres from drilling at its Aurizona gold mine in Brazil. The latest assays, from step-out holes drilled along strike of its Piaba deposit, include a hit of 3.9 grams per tonne over 11 metres in an area 300 metres west of Piaba. Scott Heffernan, vice-president of exploration, said that encountering ore-grade intercepts along strike is "exactly the result we were looking for," adding that the expansion drilling is continuing.
