New York spot gold fell $0.10 to $1,227.90 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 7.65 points to 781.72 while the TSX Gold Index added 3.53 points to 201.82. Most Canadian golds were stronger today. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) added $1.34 to $63.75 on 1.11 million shares, while Kinross Gold Corp. (K) added 23 cents to $5.17 on 10.59 million shares.
Sean Harvey and Andrew Dinning's Sarama Resources Ltd. (SWA) closed unchanged at 19.5 cents on 227,000 shares. The company and its co-venturer at the Karankasso project in Burkina Faso, Don Dudek's Savary Gold Corp. (SCA: $0.085), have received assays of up to 13.05 grams of gold per tonne over four metres from one of the last 24 holes of a 92-hole, 9,500-metre drill program that they completed earlier this year. Mr. Dudek, Savary's president and chief executive officer, says this second phase of drilling at Karankasso focused on new target testing and on expanding the mineral resource footprint of the Kueredougou West deposit.
