New York spot gold gained $19.60 to $1,274.00 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 4.00 points to 829.04 while the TSX Gold Index added 5.81 points to 221.18. Most Canadian golds moved higher, led by Detour Gold Corp. (DGC), which added 96 cents to $17.17 on 2.12 million shares. Klondex Mines Ltd. (KDX) lost five cents to $5.21 on 1.40 million shares.
Robert Wares and Jens Hansen's Beaufield Resources Inc. (BFD), unchanged at 30 cents on 1.40 million shares, has received assays of up to 1.56 grams of gold per tonne over 20 metres from the Rouleau gold zone on its Urban project in Quebec. The assays, from a 12-hole, 2,331-metre drill program, showed gold in nine of the tests and although most had modest grades, a second hole averaged 2.43 grams per tonne over five metres and a third averaged 2.04 grams per tonne over six metres. The drilling tested Rouleau along strike and at depth, with some holes also probing geophysical anomalies just beyond the mineralized corridor.
