New York spot gold gained $3.00 to $1,228.80 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 0.33 point to 810.59 while the TSX Gold Index lost 1.68 points to 206.66. Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI) was one of a few Canadian gold miners to advance today. It added 64 cents to $10.89 on 6.35 million shares.
Robert Granger and Stephen Masson's Copper Reef Mining Corp. (CZC), up one-half cent to 2.5 cents on 662,000 shares, is getting set to drill seven new holes into the New Discovery vein at its North Star-Gold Rock property near Snow Lake in Northern Manitoba. Mr. Masson touts assays from that virtual unexploration that yielded up to 94.44 grams of gold per tonne during grab sampling last fall. As well, the vein saw work 90 years ago, as the remains of an old pit at the southern end of New Discovery left a two-metre-wide vein exposed.
