New York spot gold lost $4.00 to $1,234.60 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 0.60 point to 843.92 while the TSX Gold Index dipped 4.25 points to 223.86. Most Canadian gold miners were down today, led by Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI), which dropped 45 cents to $4.04 on 14.89 million shares after disclosing it lost $291-million last year. Alamos Gold Inc. (TXG) lost 47 cents to $10.89 on 1.55 million shares.
Robert Dickinson and Ron Thiessen's Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. (NDM) lost one cent to $2.97 on 8.66 million shares after responding to a negative report from Kerrisdale Capital Management LLC about the Pebble gold and copper project in Alaska. Northern Dynasty' stock, $4.46 to start this week, slumped as low as $2.52 Tuesday on word that Kerrisdale deems Pebble to be "not commercially viable" and Northern Dynasty to therefore be "worthless." Kerrisdale notes that Anglo American PLC quit a joint venture deal at Pebble in 2013 after spending well over $500-million (U.S.) on the project.
