New York spot gold gained $3.40 to $1,141.70 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 17.81 points to 745.94 while the TSX Gold Index added 8.89 points to 190.33. Canadian gold miners were strong today. Endeavour Mining Corp. (EDV) led the charge, adding $1.54 to $19.27 on 576,000 shares. Iamgold Corp. (IMG) also did well. It gained 41 cents to $4.96 on 4.44 million shares.
Dan Omeniuk and Bert McPherson's MX Gold Corp. (MXL), unchanged at 12.5 cents on 11.57 million shares, has acquired an option to acquire a 5-per-cent interest in the Bonaparte property, near Kamloops in British Columbia, from Matt Wayrynen's Westkam Gold Corp. (WKG: $0.03). (Akash Patel, a Westkam vice-president, is a director of both companies.) At last report, Westkam was having discussions -- probably haggling over the cost -- with Kinross Gold Corp. (K: $4.21) about having the rest of the rock from a 2010 bulk sampling program processed at Kinross's Kettle River mill.
