New York spot gold lost $1.90, closing at $1,212.10 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange slumped 15.30 points to 732.63 while the TSX Gold Index gained 0.02 point to 195.74. Most Canadian golds varied little today, although Detour Gold Corp. (DGC) did fall 63 cents to $17.26 on 1.43 million shares and Klondex Mines Ltd. (KDX) managed a 23-cent gain to $6.76 on 1.35 million shares.
Darin Wagner's Balmoral Resources Ltd. (BAR), down four cents to 86 cents on 238,000 shares, has received assays from the Martiniere project in the Detour region of Quebec. The best hit averaged 4.36 grams of gold per tonne over 6.43 metres, within a 48.55-metre zone that averaged 1.07 grams per tonne. The intriguing assay came from the first of three deep holes drilled this summer on the Bug North deposit. The hole has extended the deposit to a depth of 550 metres, 140 metres deeper than previously encountered, and it remains open down-plunge.
