New York spot gold lost $3.40, closing at $1,225.00 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 5.31 points to 741.85 while the TSX Gold Index lost 1.64 points to 198.75. While most Canadian gold miners retreated today, Detour Gold Corp. (DGC) managed a 56-cent gain, closing at $18.33 on 2.26 million shares. The declines were generally modest, although Guyana Goldfields Inc. (GUY) dropped 37 cents to $6.14 on 1.37 million shares.
Nav Dhaliwal's Bonterra Resources Inc. (BTR), up one cent to 24 cents on 896,000 shares, has received assays of up to 70 grams of gold per tonne over 5.5 metres from drilling at Gladiator, in the Urban-Barry district north of Val d'Or in Quebec. The assays are from another seven holes drilled on the eastern extension of the Gladiator deposit. All the holes returned gold, although with much lower grades and lengths, although one other test did assay 12.4 grams per tonne over four metres.
