New York spot gold fell $4.70 to $1,311.20 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 7.82 points to 792.41 while the TSX Gold Index lost 5.34 points to 231.94. Nearly all Canadian gold miners retreated with bullion today. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) led the decline, losing $1.83 to $69.12 on 885,000 shares, while Osisko Gold Royalties Ltd. (OR) fell 65 cents to $13.71 on 1.11 million shares.
Walter Coles Jr. and Ron Netolitzky's Skeena Resources Ltd. (SKE), down two cents to 13 cents on 530,000 shares, has received assays of up to 16.01 grams of gold per tonne over 4.7 metres from six holes drilled at its Snip project in northwestern British Columbia. That and another assay that averaged 7.27 grams per tonne over four metres were obtained from holes that targeted an area below the Twin West underground workings, an area that produced 10,000 tonnes at 18.8 grams per tonne in limited mining years ago. Skeena received assays from the first eight holes of its drill program two weeks ago, including one that averaged 30.99 grams per tonne over 4.5 metres.
