New York spot gold fell $9.00 to $1,318.40 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 16.73 points to 797.17 while the TSX Gold Index fell 7.22 points to 236.17. Most Canadian gold miners followed bullion lower today. Iamgold Corp. (IMG) lost 35 cents to $5.40 on 7.35 million shares while Kinross Gold Corp. (K) fell 25 cents to $5.31 on 9.39 million shares.
Dr. Michael Byron's Nighthawk Gold Corp. (NHK), up six cents to 58 cents on 2.03 million shares, has received assays of up to 7.72 grams of gold per tonne over 52.07 metres at its Indin Lake property in the Northwest Territories. The hit included a 25.47-metre interval that averaged 14.25 grams per tonne. The assays are from the first five holes of a 10,000-metre drill program that Nighthawk launched in July to test the Colomac Zone 1.5 target. All five holes yielded gold, although lesser amounts and over shorter intervals. The new drilling is continuing to probe the area surrounding the company's 2014 discovery hole, which ran 7.78 grams per tonne over 52.5 metres, including a 21-metre interval that averaged 16.73 grams per tonne.
