Jonathan Awde's Gold Standard Ventures Corp. (GSV), up four cents to $3.72 on 889,000 shares, has received assays of up to 1.5 grams of gold per tonne over 101.2 metres at its North Dark Star deposit on its Railroad-Pinion project in Nevada. A second hole also encountered gold, although the intervals and grades were not nearly as encouraging. The first round of assays from this year's drilling included a 126.2-metre hit that averaged 3.95 grams of gold per tonne. Mr. Awde, chief executive officer, says he and his crew continue to be impressed with the grades and thicknesses displayed along strike at North Dark Star, which he says are "confirming a major Carlin gold discovery." The next step, he says, is metallurgical work to characterize the cyanide leach recoveries from the oxide material at North Dark Star.
