New York spot gold gained $2.70 to $1,338.40 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 2.81 points to 836.10 while the TSX Gold Index lost 2.37 points to 273.08. Kirkland Lake Gold Inc. (KGI) followed bullion higher today, gaining 28 cents to $11.97 on 679,000 shares. Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX) was among those losing ground today. It fell 40 cents to $27.80 on 4.93 million shares.
Ralph Fitch's TriMetals Mining Inc. (TMI), up one cent to 30 cents on 32,000 shares, has received assays of up to 18.8 grams of gold and 47.2 grams of silver per tonne over one metre from trench sampling at its Gold Springs project in northeastern Nevada and northwestern Utah. Several other samples yielded modest amounts of gold and silver. The assays are from new veins just over 100 metres to the west of historical occurrences along the Thor vein system. (The trenching did not expose the Thor, Dee and Brown veins at the site of the historical work.)
