New York spot gold fell $21.30 to $1,226.90 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 10.83 points to 675.31 while the TSX Gold Index fell 14.58 points to 207.46. Canadian gold miners tumbled today. Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX) lost $1.63 to $22.24 on 10.46 million shares while Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI) slumped $1.10 to $8.05 on 2.19 million shares.

John McConnell's Victoria Gold Corp. (VIT), down 3.5 cents to 43.5 cents on 2.49 million shares, has received assays of up to 2.1 grams of gold per tonne over 26.5 metres at its Dublin Gulch project in Yukon. The assays are from another 10 holes drilled at the Olive-Shamrock portion of the property, all of which yielded gold. Mr. McConnell, the company's $325,000-a-year president and chief executive officer, says the Olive-Shamrock zone is "shaping up nicely," adding that the continuity of mineralization grading above one gram per tonne "bodes well for the economics of the zone." He says that the drilling so far shows a growing zone with an already impressive size.
