New York spot gold gained $11.40 to $1,276.70 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 8.38 points to 669.48 while the TSX Gold Index rose 3.53 points to 225.88. Canadian gold miners had a good day, led by Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM), which added $1.37 to $59.94 on 1.23 million shares. Kinross Gold Corp. (K) was a laggard, dropping 41 cents to $6.74 on 22.10 million shares.
Stephen de Jong's Integra Gold Corp. (ICG), up six cents to 69 cents on 6.01 million shares, has received new assays from the Triangle zone at Lamaque South, near Val d'Or in Quebec. The assays ranged as high as 34.52 grams of gold per tonne over 3.7 metres, although there were several other high-grade hits in the latest 14 holes reported. The latest assays cover 13,000 metres of drilling in the current program; results from another 65,000 metres of drilling at Triangle, the nearby No. 4 Plug deposit and other exploration targets are pending. The company currently has five rigs operating at Lamaque South.
