New York spot gold jumped $10.10 to $1,287.70 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 11.81 points to 688.94 while the TSX Gold Index rose 9.49 points to 228.61. Canadian gold miners were strong across the board today, led higher by Iamgold Inc. (IMG), which gained 42 cents to $4.74 on 7.47 million shares and Alacer Gold Corp. (ASR), which added 36 cents to $3.44 on 2.65 million shares.
Patrick Anderson's Dalradian Resources Inc. (DNA), up 18 cents to $1.22 on 3.56 million shares, has a revised resource estimate for its Curraghinalt gold project in Northern Ireland. It now has 5.61 million tonnes measured and indicated at 11.61 grams per tonne for 2.1 million ounces; 7.13 million tonnes inferred at 10.06 grams per tonne; and another 2.3 million ounces, for a grand total of 4.4 million ounces. The total ounce count has increased by nearly one million ounces, as the original estimate listed three million tonnes measured and indicated at 10.4 grams per tonne, which is one million ounces, and eight million tonnes inferred at 9.67 grams per tonne providing 2.5 million ounces more.
