New York spot gold jumped $17.80 to $1,250.30 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 10.98 points to 649.32 while the TSX Gold Index added 5.38 points to 206.41. Canadian gold stocks were higher today, with Iamgold Corp. (IMG), up 31 cents to $3.95 on 5.37 million shares, and Yamana Gold Corp. (YRI), up 24 cents to $5.58 on 13.55 million shares, helping to lead the way.
Stephen de Jong's Integra Gold Corp. (ICG), up four cents to 60 cents on 4.86 million shares, has received new assays from its continuing drill program at Lamaque South near Val d'Or in Quebec. The new results, which include 16.08 grams of gold per tonne over 12.79 metres and 4.21 grams per tonne over 27.55 metres, come from the No. 4 plug deposit, 500 metres north of the main Triangle deposit. This is the first round of assays from the infill drill program that began last fall at No. 4; they cover 2,708 metres of a total 12,000 metres drilled into the plug.
