New York spot gold closed down $3 to $1,086.20 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 3.08 points to 528.42 while the TSX Gold Index gained 1.83 points to 124.15. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) led most Canadian gold miners on a rebound today. It gained $1 to $35.03 on 946,000 shares. Among the few losers today was New Gold Inc. (NGD), which dropped four cents to $3.09 on 970,000 shares.
Joseph Conway and Ernest Mast's Primero Mining Corp. (P), up 16 cents to $2.92 on 581,000 shares, will have a new chief executive officer on Feb. 1, 2016, when Joseph Conway, the company's founder and CEO since Primero's inception, will retire. His replacement will be Mr. Mast, who joined the company early this year as president and chief operating officer. Mr. Conway, who at 57 is the second youngest director at Primero, will "assume the role of executive vice-chairman" upon his retirement.
