New York spot gold added $6 to $1,201.80 Tuesday, rising with the euro as the U.S. dollar fell. At a conference in Singapore, BlackRock's chairman, Laurence Fink, said investors prefer real estate and art to gold this year. In Canada, the TSX Venture Exchange lost 3.48 points to 700.17, while the TSX Gold Index added 1.79 points to 166.93.

Major Canadian gold miners ended some up, others down. Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX) gained 18 cents to $15.76, Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) gained 71 cents to $37.57, Goldcorp Inc. (G) fell 11 cents to $23.83 and Detour Gold Corp. (DGC) lost 10 cents to $11.30.

Tore Birkeland and Ouyang Yong's Bullman Minerals Inc. (BUL) slipped four cents to 10 cents on a busier-than-usual 708,000 shares. The company hopes to resume drilling in Guinea this year. It acquired two properties, Siguiri and Balandougouba, in 2013, and started drilling at Siguiri in early 2014, but then had to put all work on hold because of the Ebola virus. Bullman says Guinea seems to have a better handle on the outbreak for now, which means the company can get back to work. It will need to raise money, having last closed a small $210,000 financing in December. Chairman Birkeland has been promoting resource companies for the past 50 years, however in the past decade Bullman has been his only deal. This is director Yong's first Canadian listing, although he is president of the Shenzhen Zhaojin Metal Exchange in China. He is also Bullman's largest shareholder with 9.75 million shares or 18 per cent of the company.
