The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Thursday was a positive 80-77-145 as the TSX Venture Exchange lost four points to 615 and polished diamond prices edged higher. Stornoway Diamond Corp. (SWY) closed unchanged at 19 cents on 630,000 shares. The company has been silent of late, but it should have its 2018 results within a month. Cameo Cobalt Corp. (CRU) up one-half cent to 13.5 cents on 8.05 million shares. The company has closed its acquisition of the Max mine and Willa project in British Columbia from Dan Omeniuk's long halted MX Gold Corp. (MXL: $0.11).
Louis Doyle's Barker Minerals Ltd. (BML: $0.05) took six years, but Mr. Doyle, president and chief executive officer, finally got around to touting an academic study of Barker's Tasse diamond project in east-central British Columbia. When Mr. Doyle first cheered the coming study, he was thrilled that the Canadian government had awarded a $25,000 grant to Dr. Ali Polat and the University of Windsor to study Tasse. The following year, he said the study would be published "at a later date," but he did offer the name for the article: "Assessment of alkaline lamproite diatremes for diamond potential."
