The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was a discouraging 54-82-154. The TSX Venture Exchange fell one point to 555 while polished diamond prices were flat. Paul Brockington's Margaret Lake Diamonds Inc. (DIA) had a good day, doubling for no immediately discernible reason, by adding three cents to six cents on 1.47 million shares. The company has been silent since October.
Chris Taylor and Chuck Fipke's Dunnedin Ventures Inc. (DVI), down one cent to nine cents on 638,000 shares, has the diamond counts from the KH10-11 kimberlite pipe on its Kahuna diamond project, just northeast of Rankin Inlet in Nunavut. Diamond count would be more accurate: The 151.8-kilogram batch of kimberlite produced just a single tiny diamond that sat on a 0.212-millimetre sieve. Mr. Taylor, chief executive officer, says that the target had been identified in a geophysical data review early this year and Dunnedin drilled it during the summer. He says that the analysis shows that the pipe is likely low grade and further sample processing is not warranted at this time.
