The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a positive 80-72-138. The TSX Venture Exchange rose five points to 591 while polished diamond prices edged higher. Matt Manson's Stornoway Diamond Corp. (SWY) gained one-half cent to 21 cents on 676,000 shares. The company is looking to get its Renard diamond mine in Quebec back on track. Lower production and weak rough diamond prices have hurt the company, which traded as high as $1.38 two years ago.
Randy Turner's diamond zombie, Canterra Minerals Corp. (CTM), added one-half cent to 2.5 cents on 131,000 shares Tuesday. The company continues to quietly drop diamond claims, usually as they come due for renewal. The latest to go was an option to acquire a 70-per-cent interest in the CL-25 kimberlite, which Canterra acquired two years ago from Yellowknife prospector, Mike Magrum. CL-25 was a mid-1990s discovery by Mr. Turner's Winspear Resources Ltd. that proved marginally diamondiferous. The project was an enclave surrounded by Canterra's Gwen property, which the company acquired in 2014, but dropped last year.
