The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a bleak 53-94-143. The TSX Venture Exchange lost nine points to 593 while polished diamond prices inched higher. Dermot Desmond's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD) lost three cents to $1.74 on 287,000 shares. The company suspended its four-cent quarterly dividend a few weeks ago, after just one payment.
Dan Weir's DNI Metals Inc. (DNI), unchanged at five cents on 15,000 shares, has updated its "binding supply letter agreement" with Korea Graphite Co. Ltd., through which DNI will supply up to 24,000 tonnes of flake graphite per year to Korea Graphite. (This is the Howe Street version of a binding agreement: The arrangement is subject to Korea Graphite completing offtake arrangements with Korea-based end users before next July.) According to the arrangement, Korea Graphite will start buying 500 tonnes per month in mid-2019 and will ramp up its purchases in stages to 2,000 tonnes per month by mid-2020.
