The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a mediocre 61-76-140. The TSX Venture Exchange rose six points to 718 while polished diamond prices were flat. James Bruchs's Tsodilo Resources Ltd. dropped eight cents to 33 cents on 1,000 shares. The stock, as high as $1.05 last year, has been falling steadily this year in the absence of a clear explanation about what happened with the company's bulk sample at the BK-16 kimberlite in Botswana. No news is usually a promotion killer; so, too, is difficult-to-decipher and missing information. The company recovered a smattering of diamonds this spring and had them valued, but it insists the test is not yet complete.
Edmond Hatoum and Donald Clark's RT Minerals Corp. (RTM: $0.075) is still pondering a recommended $950,000 budget for diamond exploration on its Ballard Lake metals project, northeast of Wawa in Northern Ontario. The recommendations are laid out in a year-old technical report covering the property, but the company has not had the cash to complete the work. (It still does not, although it has just raised $420,000 through the sale of seven million shares at six cents, spread across two tranches.)
