The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a rousing 82-56-140. The TSX Venture Exchange gained four points to 724 while polished diamond prices inched upward. Trent Mell's First Cobalt Corp. (FCC) gained one cents to 45 cents on 742,000 shares. The company, one of the chattiest around during the spring, has been silent since it received encouraging assays from the Iron Creek cobalt project in Idaho.

Dean Taylor's Diamcor Mining Inc. (DMI), unchanged at 31 cents on 17,000 shares, has closed a second and final tranche of the private placement that it launched in March. It sold 3.51 million shares at 35 cents in its latest tranche, raising $1.22-million. The company had sold 5.72 million shares in mid-June as a first tranche, raising $2-million. In all, Diamcor sold 9.23 million shares for $3.24-million. The company had initially been offering 12.5 million shares at 40 cents in the hope of raising $5-million, but it subsequently cut the price to 35 cents and pared back the size of the placement to $3.5-million.
