The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a weak 60-75-142. The TSX Venture Exchange gained four points to 717 while polished diamond prices gained 0.1 per cent. Anthony Milewski's Cobalt 27 Capital Corp. (KBLT) lost 16 cents to $7.76 on 546,000 shares. The company has appointed Martin Vydra as "head of strategy" because of his "technical and strategic perspectives." Shareholders hope his strategizing will get Cobalt's stock back to February's high of $14.
Dermot Desmond's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD), up three cents to $3.22 on 68,000 shares, has found kimberlite near the three pipes that comprise the Gahcho Kue mine, 250 kilometres northeast of Yellowknife. The company began drilling in April with three objectives: to test possible extensions to the Hearne pipe, to test the corridor between the 5034 and Tuzo pipes and to test the Curie anomaly, between Tuzo and the small Tesla pipe.
