The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was a ho-hum 66-74-137. The TSX Venture Exchange lost three points to 725 while polished diamond prices were flat. Arno Brand's Gratomic Inc. (GRAT), 16 cents on Wednesday, slipped another 1.5 cents to 12 cents on 3.62 million shares today. There has been no news since May, when the company started up a processing plant at its Aukam graphite project in Namibia.
Grenville Thomas and Ken Armstrong's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR), down one cent to 18.5 cents on 17,000 shares, is getting set for a summer drill program on its Mel project, on central Melville peninsula in Nunavut. Mr. Armstrong, president and chief executive officer, says that the company is currently building a camp on an esker centrally located on the property and geophysical work will begin next week. Once complete, North Arrow plans about 1,200 metres of drilling to better delineate the ML-8 kimberlite, and to test targets at the heads of several well-defined kimberlite indicator mineral trains.
