The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a so-so 75-74-128. The TSX Venture Exchange gained three points to 741 while polished diamond prices gained 0.1 per cent. Matt Manson's Stornoway Diamond Corp. (SWY) rose 1.5 cents to 43.5 cents on 447,000 shares. The company is back to mining at its Renard mine in the Otish Mountains area of Quebec, after a brief evacuation, as the threat of a nearby forest fire has passed. Lukas Lundin and Eira Thomas's Lucara Diamond Corp. (LUC) added seven cents to $2.19 on 962,000 shares. The latest news, over a week ago, saw the company boost its resource estimate for the Karowe mine.

Robert McAllister's Enertopia Corp. (TOP) slumped 3.5 cents to 4.5 cents on 4.3 million shares after the company released results of a third party analysis to determine if the finished lithium carbonate samples produced in bench tests met the 99.5-per-cent-purity threshold for battery-grade product. Unfortunately, the single-pass process developed by its technology partner, Genesis Water Technologies Inc., failed the test. Accordingly, Enertopia's board determined that it was in the best interest of the company to provide Genesis with a 30-day termination notice. Enertopia says that taking back the design process will allow it to "accelerate the testing cycle at a reduced cost," adding that any patentable process developed would belong to the company.
