The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a mediocre 78-83-133. Rough diamond prices have been flat for the past month. The TSX Venture Exchange rose six points to 801.

Glen MacDonald's foundering True North Gems Inc. (TGX) closed unchanged at one cent on 4.03 million shares. The company, which lost its Aappaluttoq ruby and sapphire mine in Greenland through bankruptcy, is offering 60 million shares at one-half cent to tide it over.

Ken MacNeill and George Read's Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM) gained one-half cent to 19.5 cents on 2.02 million shares. The stock leapt to a brief mid-morning high of 24.5 cents after Star revealed the results of a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) of its mammoth Star-Orion South diamond project in central Saskatchewan. This is apparently a partial -- and much belated -- fulfillment of the company's earlier promise to produce a revised feasibility study before the end of 2016.
