The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a weak 60-104-114. The TSX Venture Exchange rose three points to 924 while polished diamond prices were flat. Paul Gorman's Great Lakes Graphite Inc. (GLK) closed unchanged at 5.5 cents on 2.27 million shares. The company has been as quiet as a statue -- and about as active as one -- since November. The idea is to become a supplier of micronized graphite.

Ken MacNeill and George Read's Shore Gold Inc. (SGF), down one-half cent on 176,000 shares to its customary perch at 18 cents, has wrapped up another 10-hole drill program testing the overburden at its mammoth Star kimberlite in central Saskatchewan. The work is a precursor to the first phase of drilling required under the option agreement the company signed last June with Rio Tinto PLC. (Rio Tinto can earn a 60-per-cent interest in the Fort a la Corne project through a four-phase program, but it gets nothing for the $18.5-million first phase.)
