The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a mediocre 71-83-121. The TSX Venture Exchange fell one point to 793 while polished diamond prices nosed upward. Dermot Desmond's Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. (MPVD) lost four cents to $3.58 on 244,000 shares. The company will reveal its third quarter financials after the close Monday. The company sold plenty more diamonds than it did in the spring quarter, but prices remain weak.

Andre Audet and Michel Fontaine's Albert Mining Inc. (AIIM), up one cent to six cents on 61,000 shares, is offering nearly half of its 11 mineral prospects for sale but it apparently plans to keep exploring five of them, led by its James Bay property in northwestern Quebec. While the company segregates the five keepers from the "projects for sale" tab on its website, it is equivocal about its intentions for them, listing them under a "work in progress for 2017" tab. It is unclear if that work, limited as it has been, implies an intention for further exploration next year, or if it is just a quick cleaning ahead of tacking up a for sale sign.
