The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a weak 48-71-143. The TSX Venture Exchange rose fractionally to 781 while polished diamond prices edged lower. Ken MacNeill and George Read's Shore Gold Inc. (SGF) closed unchanged at 22.5 cents on 327,000 shares. Investors are waiting, most of them impatiently, for word that the company's partner plans to drill at Star-Orion South soon.
Dermot Desmond and Dr. Rory Moore's Kennady Diamonds Inc. (KDI), up 11 cents to $3.04 on 5,000 shares, has its anticipated resource estimate for two Faraday kimberlites at Kennady North, 10 kilometres northeast of Gahcho Kue. (Dr. Moore says the estimate was completed "through the collective efforts" of Aurora Geosciences Ltd., Mineral Services Canada Inc. and SRK Consulting.) As expected, the tonnages were modest, the grades decreased from bulk testing results and the diamond valuations rose, as Kennady's consultants used a larger diamond cut-off size. Nevertheless, there were a few surprises, although perplexities might be a better description.
