The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a mediocre 69-78-108. The TSX Venture Exchange fell eight points to 810 while polished diamond prices jumped 0.4 per cent. Matt Manson's Stornoway Diamond Corp. (SWY) jumped four cents to 88 cents on 3.75 million shares. The company is producing diamonds from its Renard mine in north-central Quebec, but investors must wait until mid-May to hear how its sales have gone.

Dr. Rory Moore's Kennady Diamonds Inc. (KDI), down five cents to $3.70 on 5,000 shares, has finished a mini-bulk sample of Faraday 2, a rich kimberlite at Kennady North, 10 kilometres northeast of Gahcho Kue in the Northwest Territories. The company drilled 29 large-diameter holes into the pipe this winter, collecting 265 tonnes of kimberlite. (Faraday 2 is significantly smaller than Kelvin, the largest of the Kennady North pipes, where a 29-hole sampling program last year yielded 580 tonnes of kimberlite.) Dr. Moore, president and chief executive officer, says that he was "delighted to have achieved our target tonnage" at Faraday 2 despite the "weather-related challenges." The area is plagued by blizzards, frigid temperatures and more blizzards, all of which the field crews had to deal with.
