The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a positive 69-67-122. The TSX Venture Exchange gained two points to 816 while polished diamond prices were flat. Terry Tucker's Tango Mining Ltd. (TGV) gained one-half cent to 3.5 cents on 3.27 million shares. Tango, which briefly poked above the 10-cent mark last summer when it was trying -- unsuccessfully -- to acquire the BK-11 kimberlite in Botswana, is again promoting its Oena alluvial diamond project in South Africa.
Richard Mazur and Mike Koziol's Alto Ventures Ltd. (ATV), unchanged at seven cents on 34,000 shares, has begun drilling on its GEFA diamond project, east of La Ronge in the Pikoo district of north-central Saskatchewan. Mr. Mazur, chief executive officer, says Alto plans to test several targets that it classified as high-priority anomalies on a 2015 geophysical survey. The features are up-ice from kimberlite indicator mineral trains identified in a 2014 sampling program. That sampling produced an encouraging train on the eastern half of the GEFA claims, while a second appeared on the western half. Mr. Mazur appears most enthused with the eastern area.
