The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a weak 60-88-116. The TSX Venture Exchange gained eight points to 823 while polished diamond prices remained flat. Matt Manson's Stornoway Diamond Corp. (SWY) closed unchanged at $1.10 on 434,000 shares. The stock has settled into a narrow, although higher range now that the company has declared its Renard mine to be in continuous production.
Chris Taylor's Dunnedin Ventures Inc. (DVI), down one cent to 21 cents on 73,000 shares, has appointed John Robins and Jim Paterson as "strategic advisers" -- normal advice apparently not in vogue on Howe Street. Mr. Taylor, chief executive officer, declared himself "thrilled" to welcome the two men as advisers, although he fawned most vigorously over Mr. Robins, who had a hand in staking what is now Dunnedin's Kahuna diamond project, just north of Rankin Inlet, in the early 2000s with his Hunter Exploration Group. (Hunter promptly optioned it to Shear Diamonds Inc. and Shear put over $20-million into the project before it gave up after the 2008 recession hit.)
