The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a poor 54-74-135. The TSX Venture Exchange gained four points to 768 while polished diamond prices edged higher. Nicholas Houghton's True North Gems Inc. (TGX) lost one cent to 7.5 cents on 1.24 million shares. True North has been discouragingly silent about work at its Aappaluttoq ruby and sapphire mine in western Greenland. The mine was to have achieved production well before this time, but as the weeks go by, True North has become increasingly vague about when the work will be complete.
James Bruchs's Tsodilo Resources Ltd. (TSD: $0.70) has bought the remaining 25-per-cent interest in the BK-16 kimberlite for a 2-per-cent gross proceeds royalty on the sale of diamonds. Tsodilo now owns a 100-per-cent interest in the project, which lies 25 kilometres southeast of the Damshtaa mine and 28 kilometres east-northeast of the Karowe mine that is reaping big profits for Lucara Diamond Corp. (LUC: $3.73). It is also 37 kilometres east-southeast of the huge Orapa mine that has made De Beers a major diamond producer for decades. Tsodilo acquired its initial interest in BK-16 in the summer of 2014 when the company was granted a prospecting licence covering the pipe.
