The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a ho-hum 59-63-141. The TSX Venture Exchange gained seven points to 764 while polished diamond prices were flat. Terry Tucker's Tango Mining Ltd. (TGV) lost one-half cent to six cents on 506,000 shares. Tango is touting plans to develop the BK-11 kimberlite in Botswana. The stock, 2.5 cents through the spring, jumped to eight cents in mid-June. Mr. Tucker said he had no idea why. He presumably has no explanation for Tango's gradual decline since then.
Brendan Bell's Dominion Diamond Corp. (DDC), down 14 cents to $11.47 on 165,000 shares, is widely rumoured to be on the prowl for possible acquisitions. The flurry of rumours follows comments by the company's chief executive officer, Brendan Bell, who sees plenty of encouraging diamond projects in which his company might invest. (He fuelled the speculation by saying Dominion is seeking a new chief financial officer with a lot of experience in mergers and acquisitions.)
