The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a ho-hum 67-64-132. The TSX Venture Exchange gained seven points to 759 while polished diamond prices gained 0.2 per cent. Eric Friedland and Tom Peregoodoff's Peregrine Diamonds Ltd. (PGD) lost two cents to 26.5 cents on 585,000 shares. Last week, the company revealed its preliminary economic assessment for the first phase of its Chidliak mine on Baffin Island.
Jim Greig's Crystal Exploration Inc. (CEI: $0.135) plans to sell 2.73 million regular shares at 11 cents and 2.22 million flow-through shares at 13.5 cents. Each leg of the placement, if fully subscribed, would raise $300,000. As well, Mr. Greig, president and chief executive officer, says Crystal has "granted an option" -- to whom is not clear -- to raise an additional $500,000 on each portion of the non-brokered financing. The company says the cash is for its Muskox, Contwoyto and Hood River diamond projects, in the North Slave region of Nunavut.
