The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a positive 75-60-130. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 17 points to 747 while polished diamond prices fell 0.15 per cent. Patrick Power's Arctic Star Exploration Corp. (ADD) gained one-half cent to 2.5 cents on 4.85 million shares. The stock took a brief run as high as 10 cents this spring, and then returned to its customary perch, without any big news.
Negar Adam's Makena Resources Inc. (MKN), down one-half cent to 3.5 cents on 1.28 million shares, is the latest Howe Street junior to tackle the developing diamond play in the Athabasca region of northwestern Saskatchewan. The company has acquired 4,060 hectares deemed prospective for diamonds from a private company, DB Diamond Holdings Inc. Ms. Adam, Makena's president, says the prospect is "in the direct vicinity" of the project on which De Beers Canada recently acquired an option from Canalaska Uranium Ltd. (CVV: $1.46).
