The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was a pleasing 56-55-139. The TSX Venture Exchange fell two points to 656 while polished diamond prices dropped 0.35 per cent. Quentin Yarie's Honey Badger Exploration Inc. (TUF) closed unchanged at three cents on 488,000 shares. The company has acquired a diamond project in Northern Quebec, based on geophysical data suggestive of kimberlite targets.
Robert Gannicott's Dominion Diamond Corp. (DDC), up eight cents to $15.49 on 280,000 shares, is planning early-stage exploration at Lac de Gras. Elliot Holland, vice-president of projects for what is now the world's third-largest diamond producer by value, says Dominion has set a $1.3-million budget for the Lac de Gras property in which it has a 55-per-cent interest. The company's co-venturer, Grenville Thomas and Ken Armstrong's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR: $0.255) holds the remaining 45 per cent interest, for now at least. The cash-strapped North Arrow has apparently decided not to pay its way this year; it expects to be diluted to 39 per cent as a result.
