The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a pleasing 68-51-141. The TSX Venture Exchange gained four points to 654 while polished diamond prices edged upward. Robert Gannicott's Dominion Diamond Corp. (DDC) soared to an intraday high of $15.57 before closing up $1.10 to $15.30 on 885,000 shares. The company reported earlier this week that its diamond recoveries and prices are on the rise at Diavik; the jump is a delayed reaction sparked by favourable reviews by mining analysts. Jared Lazerson's MGX Minerals Inc. (XMG) gained three cents to 18 cents on 898,000 shares. The company is offering five million 10-cent shares to support its new Alberta lithium prospect.

Patrick Power and Buddy Doyle's perpetual diamond promotion, Arctic Star Exploration Corp. (ADD), closed unchanged at six cents on 694,000 shares. The company is offering 10 million shares at five cents in the hope of raising $500,000 for exploration. The placement comes on the heels of one the company completed two weeks ago, in which it sold 10 million shares at four cents. Mr. Power, president and chief executive officer, says the cash is for work on Arctic Star's two dinosaur diamond plays, T-Rex and Triceratops, in the Lac de Gras region of the Northwest Territories. Investors seem unusually enthused about the company's prospects for a change -- about 60 million shares have traded since mid-March. As a further surprise, the Internet chatter among retail investors centred on diamonds and not some faint rumour that the company would go chasing lithium.

Will - your memory for old and moldy diamond plays is only exceeded by your wit. Your archives must be prodigious. Keep up the great work!

Backseat Driver:

"...old and moldy diamond plays..." Hrmmpf. That's a pretty good description.

Yes, I have walls of old data squirreled away. Thanks for the encouragement. Keep reading!

Cheers,

I say that because I was involved in at least one of them, it was an exercise in futility.
