The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Monday was a rousing 79-47-134. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 4.50 points to 683.34 while polished diamond prices gained 0.15 per cent. Eric Friedland and Tom Peregoodoff's Peregrine Diamonds Ltd. (PGD) traded briskly, adding one-half cent to 17.5 cents on 746,000 shares. Investors are eagerly anticipating a new resource estimate for the CH-7 pipe at Chidliak, on southeastern Baffin Island.
A legal fight is brewing between Dr. Stewart Blusson's Archon Minerals Ltd. (ACS: $1.71) and Robert Gannicott's Dominion Diamond Corp. (DDC: $13.86). Dominion says that Archon's interest in the Buffer claims, which host the large Jay pipe, is being diluted because it has declined to participate in parts of the exploration program. While Dr. Blusson and his crew acknowledge that Archon objected to the program, they assert that the company "was not required to participate" in order to maintain its 34.7-per-cent interest. Dominion has declared Archon to be in breach of their joint venture agreement; Dr. Blusson insists it is not, adding that Archon is currently discussing the dispute with Dominion.
