The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was a 53-53-146 draw. The TSX Venture Exchange fell fractionally to 693 while polished diamond prices were flat. Matt Manson's Stornoway Diamond Corp. (SWY) jumped four cents to 61 cents on 1.32 million shares, its highest since September. The stock has been inching upward since it traded at 46 cents in mid-December. The company is busy building its new mine at Renard in Northern Quebec. It also has plenty of planning to do for many millions of carats currently outside its mine plan. Martin Dallaire's Fieldex Exploration Inc. (FLX) gained one cent to three cents on 4.72 million shares. Fieldex is exploring for strategic metals and base metals, a poly-metallic strategy it says "has the advantage of protection against individual metal price cycles." Unfortunately, as Fieldex's woeful chart suggests, all those individual prices have cycled to their individual bottoms.
