The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was a pleasing 62-49-141. The TSX Venture Exchange gained nine points to 676 while polished diamond prices rebounded 0.2 per cent. Patrick Evans's Kennady Diamonds Inc. (KDI) fell 20 cents to $3.64 on 44,000 shares. The stock, $8.18 last August, slumped suddenly to $5 in early fall on the heels of diamond counts from the company's mini-bulk test of Kelvin. The latest slide began with more Kelvin diamond counts. All signs nevertheless suggest Kelvin is a rich kimberlite, just not rich enough for some investors. Negar Adams's Makena Resources Inc. (MKN) fell one-half cent to four cents on 2.46 million shares. The company plans work on its Patterson uranium prospect in Northern Saskatchewan. Ms. Adams is less enthused with the Murdochville alumina and rare earth play in Quebec. If she cannot raise exploration cash she may "sell or write off this property in full." The threat will make it hard to raise cash.
