The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a mediocre 49-54-149. The TSX Venture Exchange gained two points to 676 while polished diamond prices inched higher. Eric Friedland's Peregrine Diamonds Ltd. (PGD) jumped 2.5 cents to 16.5 cents on 1.05 million shares, in what appears to be a delayed reaction to Monday's good news about expanded tonnage estimates at Chidliak. Paul Kuhn's Avrupa Minerals Ltd. (AVU) slumped 5.5 cents to 25.5 cents on 1.29 million shares. Avrupa fell on assays from its Slivovo project in Kosovo. Stock guru, John Kaiser described the company's previous assays as not being a "back up the truck moment." Investors apparently decided the latest ones were a "get-away truck moment."

Christopher Taylor's Dunnedin Ventures Inc. (DVI), down four cents to 15 cents on 42,000 shares, has an inferred resource for its Kahuna diamond project north of Rankin Inlet. Dunnedin estimates the Kahuna dike hosts 3.07 million inferred tonnes of kimberlite at 1.04 carats per tonne, for a total of 3.19 million carats. The nearby Notch dike contains 921,000 tonnes inferred at 0.90 carat per tonne, a total of 765,000 carats. In all, Dunnedin infers 4.0 million tonnes and 4.0 million carats of diamonds larger than a 0.85-millimetre sieve. Using a larger cut-off, the diamond count drops to 3.2 million carats.
