The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a mediocre 50-48-169. The TSX Venture Exchange gained seven points to 679 while polished diamond prices rose 0.1 per cent. Robert Gannicott's Dominion Diamond Corp. (DDC) regained 46 cents to $20 on 509,000 shares. Dominion fell 32 cents Tuesday on word that Diavik's fourth quarter production was 25 per cent less than a year ago; an unexpected drop that followed the sparkle of three previous quarters. Today's rebound may reflect the company's forecast that Diavik could nearly match its 2014 production this year. James Clucas's Search Minerals Inc. closed unchanged at 3.5 cents on 1.03 million shares. Search is "the discoverer" of Port Hope Simpson, a "rare earth element district" in southeast Labrador. Mr. Clucas needs a big financing to become the "miner" of his district. A "positive and robust" dream sheet put the cost at $221-million three years ago.
