The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was a positive 56-49-161. The TSX Venture Exchange gained five points to 789 while polished diamond prices were flat. Dr. Hans Black's Williams Creek Gold Ltd. (WCX) closed unchanged at 6.5 cents on 535,000 shares. The company is waiting to hear what its co-venturer, Almaden Minerals Ltd. (AMM: $1.17), has planned early next year at ATW, an old diamond play with unexplained geochemical promise southeast of Lac de Gras. The answer is nothing, barring a major surprise: Almaden says work will resume "when economic conditions are more favourable." Boris Ziger's Matica Enterprises Ltd. (GRF) gained one cent to 14 cents on 1.11 million shares. Matica is acquiring Grumpy Lizard, a Nevada-based graphite play. It also wants to acquire a "ready-to-build" medicinal marijuana grow-op in Nova Scotia. ("Ready-to-build" is the medicinal pot equivalent of exploration "moose pasture.")
