Alternative trading systems received 35.6 per cent of Canadian trading volume during the week ended March 28, 2014. Chi-X Canada held its lead, trading an average of 115 million shares a day for 13.2 per cent. Alpha Trading Systems traded 82 million shares a day for 9.4 per cent of volume, and CX2 handled 32 million shares a day or 3.7 per cent. Match Now, Pure Trading, TMX Select and Omega ATS shared the remainder. The Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange handled the majority, 62 per cent. The Canadian Securities Exchange had, for it, another strong week with 2 per cent of volume, thanks to its handful of pot stocks, which included a couple of new entrants, Affinor Resources Inc. and Global Hemp Group Inc. Affinor had a great week, climbing to 40 cents from 2.5 cents on 2.4 million shares, while Global Hemp Group Inc. doubled to 20 cents on one million shares.

The CSE is hoping to attract more listings, straight from the TSX-V. It is inviting all TSX-V juniors to the Metropolitan Hotel in Vancouver next Tuesday for refreshments. There, it hopes to convince them to "Make the Switch." President Richard Carleton will focus on the CSE's low maintenance fees, only $500 a month, and the fact that the CSE does not meddle in company affairs. He induced one company to make the switch last month, Woulfe Mining Inc.
